Timeline of the “third wave”

April 28, 2026

  • Bajrang Moran (Kelly Moran), co-owner of Sattva California, travels to Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh for an in-person meeting with Anand Mehrotra to confront Anand Mehrotra about allegations of sexual relationships with students/ staff.

May 19, 2026

May 22, 2026

  • Sattva California publicly announces that it is closing. The announcement states “this decision reflects our unwavering commitment to our values the the integrity of the teachings. It is a necessary response to actions taken and disclosed to us by the lead organization, Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, that are in conflict with our code of conduct. As a result, concluding our alliance with Sattva Yoga Academy and our business operations as Sattva California is the responsible path forward.”

  • Christina Lizzi, Esq. a Sattva student and founder/administrator of the sangha-run North America Sattva WhatsApp group, and who is also helping to organize the UK Consciousness Summit, contacts Sattva California as well as Sattva Yoga Academy leadership to better understand what the alleged conflict with the code of conduct is that led to Sattva California closing. Bajrang Moran points Lizzi back to the public statement, while Sattva Yoga Academy Leadership tell Lizzi that it is merely a business dispute.

May 23 - June 2, 2026

  • During this time, Jemina Cox asks Lizzi, on behalf of Anand Mehrotra, to help assist in determining what the “code of conduct” referenced is. Lizzi is at first assured that there are no allegations of sexual misconduct and Mehrotra is unaware of what is being referenced. Lizzi agrees to assist, reviews Sattva manuals, and provides drafts of a cease and desist letter for Sattva’s use based on the information she has been provided.

  • Lizzi assures other organizers and participants of the UK Consciousness Summit that Sattva leadership states the allegations are not sexual in nature and are purely related to a business dispute.

  • Cox later discloses that there is an e-mail circulating from Bajrang Moran alleging sexual misconduct but does not provide the e-mail. Lizzi continues to be assured that any allegations are baseless and that the e-mail and Sattva California closure are purely motivated by self-interest and a business dispute. This is confirmed to Lizzi by Sattva teacher and Sattva Global Yoga Academy organizer Corrin Vecchitto.

June 3, 2026

  • Lizzi receives a copy of the May 19, 2026 e-mail from Bajrang Moran.

  • Lizzi shares the May 19, 2026 e-mail with the other members of the UK Consciousness Summit organizing team, including Marouf Tirade and Charlotte Holmes. Holmes responds “Yes it’s been circling. I got it last week. They seem to be sending it sporadically to various people. I suggest not reaching out to them - if you’d like clarity on anything then Anne Marie or Jemina would be the people to call or message”. After receiving this response and the response of other organizers which she believed diminished the importance of the allegations, Lizzi announces her resignation from assisting with the summit.

  • Without providing the reason, Lizzi also resigns from administering the Sattva North America WhatsApp group.

June 6, 2026

  • Sattva California holds a conscious closing ceremony of the studio.

June 8, 2026

  • The UK Consciousness Summit announces it will no longer be featuring Anand Mehrotra.

  • Bajrang, Gabriel, Lizzi, and Franz Ranero meet to discuss the May 19, 2026 e-mail and nature of the allegations. Lizzi and Ranero understand that three women are in the process of writing up their experiences.

  • Lizzi offers to assist to ensure that the write-ups are done in a professional manner. Between June 9 - June 14, 2026, Lizzi and Ranero, both attorneys, assist the first three women to prepare sworn declarations. They assist Victoria Larkins after she steps forward.

June 11, 2026

  • Lizzi releases a statement on Youtube of how Sattva leadership deceived her into believing that the closure of Sattva California was solely due to a business dispute and that she should respond to student concerns with that information. Lizzi apologies to the community and explains that she now understands the closure was due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

  • In response to being told that the North America WhatsApp group was being controlled by Sattva staff after Lizzi exited and transferred leadership of the group, Lizzi starts the Safehouse Sangha support group on WhatsApp. The private group is intended to provide a place for emotional processing and practical support to its members. The private group requires administrator approval to join and adherence to group rules.

  • Lizzi registers www.safehouse.yoga.

June 13, 2026

  • A letter from Anand is circulated in various community WhatsApp threads. The message asserts bullying and the pain that discussion of the women’s stories causes personally to Anand Mehrotra and his family as well as those involved with Sattva, calling for an end to it. Mehrotra denies all allegations and asserts that all conduct has been consensual.

  • In response to Anand’s June 13, 2026 letter, a woman steps forward to share her story of non-consensual sexual contact from Anand Mehrotra.

June 15, 2026

  • Four sworn statements are published on the safehouse website detailing over a decade of sexual encounters between Anand Mehrotra and students/staff, including non-consensual conduct and long periods of apparent grooming and abuse of authority.

  • Adam Schomer, director of various documentaries featuring Anand Mehrotra, provides his statement of support of the women for the safehouse website.

June 16, 2026

June 17, 2026

  • Through messages in various community WhatsApp threads, Sattva Yoga Academy claims unfairness but states that it is canceling scheduled trainings. (See response message posted below.) The message is deleted by Sattva shortly after posting it in the Europe and North America WhatsApp threads.

  • Anand Mehrotra’s personal website goes into “Maintenance Mode.” All content on Anand Mehrotra’s and Sattva Yoga Academy’s Instagram accounts is no longer publicly visible. Sattva Yoga Academy website states solely, “Sattva Yoga Academy is closed”.

  • Sattva Connect LLC dissolved as a legal entity in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. (go to https://file.dos.pa.gov/search/business and search for Sattva Connect LLC and click on “history”.)

  • Complaints are filed with Yoga Alliance regarding sexual misconduct and other violations of Yoga Alliance policies.

June 18, 2026,

  • The Sattva Yoga Academy website now states solely, “Sattva Yoga Academy website is under maintenance.”

  • As of this date, Sattva has also threatened one of the women who stepped forward with legal action.

  • An influencer/teacher (@shakti_shiva_tantra) who posted a reel on instagram about this website, and which received thousands of views, was threatened by Sattva with legal action. The reel is no longer publicly visible.

June 19, 2026

  • Students who amended their previously positive reviews or added new, negative reviews on sites such as Google, discover that their reviews are immediately removed. A similar thing happened in a prior “wave”. See the instagram account @sattvayogaaccountability for TrustPilot reviews that were previously removed.

  • Influencer/teacher @shakti_shiva_tantra a posted a second reel on instagram that was much more educational in nature. He again received legal threats from Sattva. In response, he decided to repost the original video and included a message about the legal threats and importance of bringing such abuses to light. Those videos, however, were again later removed.

  • The Safehouse Sangha WhatsApp thread migrates to a private group hosted on Circle.

June 21, 2026

  • Sattva Yoga Academy has responded to students who request refunds in a conflicting manner. Some receive messages that Sattva is not “closed yet” and that the Academy “will absolutely issue a refund if Sattva closes and training courses are cancelled”, while others report receiving messages that “all upcoming trainings and courses have been cancelled.”

  • The Telluride Yoga Festival removed Anne Marie Brown and Tommy Rosen from their lineup. In their e-mail to participants, the organizers explained:

    • Dear TYF Community,

      With just days until we gather in Telluride, we want to share a brief update with you.

      The Telluride Yoga Festival exists to celebrate yoga in all of its many forms and to bring together an extraordinary community of teachers and practitioners in one of the most beautiful places on earth. That is what this weekend is, and that is what we are showing up to create for you.

      In keeping with our commitment to integrity and community wellbeing, we have made the decision to remove Tommy Rosen and Annemarie Brown from the TYF 2026 lineup. This follows the public emergence of serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving leadership within the Sattva Yoga community. Given Tommy and Annemarie's close professional association with that community, we felt it was important to take this step to reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all.

      We are not a court, and it is not our role to render a verdict, but we do have a responsibility to be thoughtful stewards of this community and this space. We approached both Tommy and Annemarie directly and with care before making this decision.

      Our hearts go out to all those affected by this situation, and we are deeply saddened by what has come to light.

      The sessions previously scheduled with Tommy and Annemarie will be covered by other members of our incredible 50+ presenter faculty — updates will be reflected in shortly.

      This community is one of the most loving, open-hearted, and conscious gatherings we know of anywhere. We cannot wait to be together in Telluride soon!

  • Bajrang Moran launched a GoFundMe with a stated objective of raising $250,000 for the four women impacted and organizational efforts. Following criticism, Moran unilaterally closed the campaign and refunded all donor contributions. The June 25, 2026 closure message stated he and his husband “started the GoFundme campaign to help the four women that have come forward. All four women supported us in doing so. However, we never wished to be a distraction or a reason for people not to contribute to this absolutely necessary mission. As a result, we have stopped our GoFundMe efforts and will allow Christina and all of you to move forward in a manner where our involvement is not a distraction to the mission. GoFundMe has begun fully refunding the 32 people who donated.”

June 29, 2026

  • Sattva’s attorneys emailed Lizzi an intent to file a lawsuit (writ petition) under the India’s Information Technology Act (2000), section 69A against Christina Lizzi, Kelly Moran (Bajrang), two of the women who have provided statements on this website, and various internet hosting entities. As relief, the lawsuit petitions the Indian government to order internet hosting entities and google to remove this webpage, the support group, and all URLs linking to this content. The allegations are baseless and will be dealt with in court where justice will be served. The writ has been filed as WP(C) 8819/2026 in the High Court of Delhi and a first hearing is scheduled for July 7, 2026. The hearing date was not provided to respondents in advance. Mehrotra never requested safehouse remove or amend the website before filing any legal action.

June 30, 2026

  • Sattva’s attorneys emailed Lizzi an intent to file a civil lawsuit for defamation against Christina Lizzi, Kelly Moran (Bajrang), two of the women who have provided statements on this website, and various internet hosting entities. As relief, the lawsuit seeks injunctive relief to remove this website, close the support group, and remove any information related to them, as well as 3 crores rupees (approx. $317,000) in damages and legal fees. The allegations are baseless and will be dealt with in court where justice will be served. Again, Mehrotra never requested safehouse remove or amend the website before noticing intent to take legal action.

July 6, 2026

  • ThePrint.in published “Yoga guru, sexual abuse, silence—inside the allegations against Rishikesh’s Sattva Yoga Academy,” written by Vitasta Kaul. The reporter travelled to Sattva Yoga Academy and provided a list of questions to Anand Mehrotra in advance. The reporter was denied entry to Sattva grounds and Mehrotra did not respond to the reporters questions. The reporters questions were received by Mehrotra because they are attached as an appendix to both notices of the lawsuits sent to Christina Lizzi.

  • The Print article states “Yoga Alliance also confirmed to ThePrint that it has initiated an investigation into the matter. While declining to comment on specific complaints or the details of its review, the organisation said it had ‘initiated an investigation and imposed an interim suspension of the school and associated teachers pending the outcome of that investigation.’”

July 7, 2026

July 10, 2026

  • An email was shared with safehouse from Sattva Summit organizers stating that the Sattva Summit, scheduled for November 2026, will be held and the standard cancellation policy applies to requests for refunds.

  • safehouse becomes aware that Sattva Yoga Academy has re-launched its website and continues to announce upcoming trainings for September and April 2027. This is contrary to prior assertions, including those in the legal complaints, that Sattva has been forced to suspend operations, as well as Anand’s June 13, 2026 letter stating that he will no longer be teaching. The Sattva Yoga Academy website also continues to claim that students who train with Sattva are eligible to become Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teachers.

  • A website called “Supporterhouse.com” was launched by supporters of Anand Mehrotra, closely mimicking the layout of safehouse. In safehouse’s opinion, this is a classic DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim Offender) response. DARVO is a manipulation tactic where an accused person denies the allegation, attacks the accuser's credibility or motives, and reverses the narrative so they become the victim and the accuser becomes the aggressor. It obscures accountability by reframing the conflict as an attack on the defendant rather than addressing the original charge. DARVO can be psychologically effective because it shifts focus away from the original accusation and onto the dynamics between the parties. It can confuse observers, exhaust accusers, and, if successful, make the accuser doubt themselves or feel too drained to continue.

July 21, 2026

  • The safehouse sangha closes the circle plaftorm having provided forty-days of space for emotional processing of the personal impacts that the revelation of the allegations from this and prior waves have had on students and others brought to Sattva Yoga Academy through Recovery 2.0.
